Rev. Brian Burch (President)
Rev. Brian Burch brings a long history of involvement in co-operative and
non-profit endeavors, including serving on the boards of the Ontario
Worker Co-operative Federation and FoodShare, as a member of the Finance
Committee of the Co-operative Housing Federation of Canada and as
Treasurer of the Ontario Region of the Co-operative Federation of Canada.
He currently serves on the board of directors of The Canadian Alternative
Investment Co-operative and on the Endowment Committee of the Student
Christian Movement of Canada. Brian is an accomplished writer and his
articles, poetry and reviews have published in over 200 periodicals in
eight countries.
Sandra Lang (Vice-President)
Sandra grew up in Northern Ontario. Homeless for the first four months she
spent in Toronto, Sandra experienced first hand what it means to fall
through the social safety net. After moving into Houselink, an agency that
provides housing for psychiatric survivors, she not only became a board
member, but served two terms as vice president. Sandra served for three
years on the board of the Advocacy Resource Centre for the Handicapped,
(ARCH), a legal clinic that focuses exclusively on disability issues. For
the past fourteen years Sandra has been on the administrative staff at
Houselink.
Carol Carson (Second Vice-President)
Carol's long history of community work on both a voluntary and professional basis including work with the Out of the Cold program, Lawyers' Feed the Hungry Program and the NaMeRes overnight van program. She is also on the board of the Yonge/Eglinton Community Centre.
Cathy Crowe (Secretary)
Cathy Crowe has been a Street Nurse for 17 years. In 1998 she co-founded the Toronto Disaster Relief Committee that declared homelessness a National Disaster. The disaster campaign calls for the 1% solution - an additional allocation of 1% budget spending by senior levels of government towards a national housing program. She is currently a recipient of the Atkinson Charitable Foundation's Economic Justice Award and is based at the Sherbourne Health Centre.
Tracey Thomas (Treasurer)
Tracey Thomas is a holistic health practitioner who worked with people who were homeless and marginalized for 18 years, developing and operating alternative, supportive housing models for 12 of these years. She is the former Manager of Homeless and Disaster Operations for the Toronto Region of the Canadian Red Cross, and worked with Homes First Society, Sistering, and Youthlink-Inner City. She came to the Saint Clare's Board through her participation in the Homelessness Action Group.
